Rated 4 out of 5 by from Peace of mind I put this on our registry and was so excited that it was purchased for us! This has given us peace of mind since we moved our little one out of the bassinet in our room to the crib in her own room. We have been using it for about a month and have not had any false alarms yet. I know it works because if I pickup baby before turning the sensor off the alarm sounds. The only con so far is that there is a constant humming and clicking noise through the parent monitor. It's most noticeable at night as we lay in bed. I have read this is common on some models and we have yet to find a fix for it- we have tried changing channels, disconnecting wifi in the house and moving cell phones further away from the device. Somewhat annoying but I'll deal with it as long as I know it's working!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product! I have had this monitor for 5 months now. My son was having trouble with Apnoea attacks at the hospital so we bought it as a precaution. It works amazingly. Only issue we have is sometimes the parents model will make a loud fuzzy noise but it only happens rarely and I think it has to do with it being to far away from the baby monitor part (did it on one side of our room doesn't seem to when moved to closer to the baby's room(so the other side of our room). It's easy to use, has great detail on the parents monitor (temp of baby's room, a little metronome (like a clock one) that shows baby is moving and the pad is sensing it)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Piece of mind for first time mom After tons and tons of research I decided to go with this monitor. I\'m terrified of SIDS and this is a movement and sound monitor. My sister used this with both her kids and loved it as well. The monitor is relatively easy to install and the sensitivity of it is amazing. I have no fear that it won\'t pick up my baby\'s movements, even if he moves to the edges of the Crib. I looked into sound and video monitors as well but this got amazing reviews from the baby gear lab and I can sleep at night knowing that my little one is safe thanks to this awesome monitor!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Will be buying another one!! I bought this for my first baby 5 years ago and it\'s just now finally kicked the bucket. I will be buying another one for my baby due in December because I love it! We had a few false alarms because my first daughter would roll herself all the way to the edge or corner of the crib where the monitoring couldn\'t properly detect her. That only happened a few times. My favorite features are the constant sound so that I can hear the smallest of whimpers or cries and get to the baby before she\'s fully awake. It also shows the temperature which was awesome for knowing if I needed a fan or not or adjust the thermostat. I\'ve used his monitor with two babies and now two toddlers, and can\'t wait to get another one

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent with a few glitches We used this for our oldest and loved it. The comfort it gave my anxious mind was invaluable. We did have some occasions of false alarms where the unit would beep as if baby had stopped breathing, but each time it was a fluke. Once we got the sensitivity set properly, those instances were reduced. Another concern is the cord from the sensor pad to the monitor. You need to be VERY careful to run it in a way that it doesn\'t pose a strangulation hazard. The other issue we had was the lights on the monitor gave out eventually making it impossible to change the settings. It took probably 2-3 years, so it wasn\'t horrible but still frustrating. All in all, we did love it and will be buying a new one for our next.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! I've had this through two children and love it. I'm convinced it saved my first child's life. She was a premie and the alarm went off. I went into her room to find her not breathing. I shook her lightly and yelled and she took a giant intake of breath. Classic SIDS where kid stops breathing and respiratory system too immature to kick-start alone. This model doesn't have video, which I have never felt the need for.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible Decison I researched monitors for months and decided this was our safest and best option - we absolutely hate it. It beeps constantly, wakes us up, and sometimes wakes up our baby. The product sounds great in theory, but we had a baby (and parents) sleeping through the night in our bedroom and now everyone is being disturbed by this monitor, since moving our daughter to her nursery/crib.

Is there a mode that allows two parent units be used without the nursey unit to detect sound ? (Placing one parent unit in room with child and having one parnet unit on your person)

Asked by: Paulnz
Hello, The nursery unit or camera is the one that transmits sound to the parent unit. It won't be possible to have to receivers (parents units) alone. Thank you Angelcare

Hi! We don't use the sensory pad at present. Yesterday the Nursery Unit began beeping after 30 seconds. It didn't do this previously. Could it be that the Nursery Units' batteries are flat? What else could be the problem?

We have just set up our monitor and it lets of a beep every 5 seconds. It isn’t a warning beep. We aren’t quite sure if this is normal?

Asked by: Morris66
Thanks for contacting Angelcare Monitor. Your monitor is probably low battery. Firstly, can I ask, when you please the Parent Unit on the Charging Cradle, does the battery symbol illuminate to indicate that the Parent Unit is charging? If not, then the batteries are not inserted correctly. Please when inserting the batteries ensure that they are inserted correctly. If you cannot see the battery icon in the top right hand corner, then the batteries are not inserted correctly. This would explain why when you take the Parent Unit off the charging Cradle it is switching itself off. Please see below for “Inserting Batteries Correctly” information below. In addition to this, have you recently replaced the rechargeable batteries? Angelcare recommend that you change the batteries approx. every 6 months. The cells depreciate over time as they are constantly charged and can give a false reading and the Parent Unit can switch back on albeit for a short amount of time – please see below for “Rechargeable Battery Information”. If this does not help you, please contact with your local distributor: Valiant Enterprises 323, Warrigal Rd Cheltenham 3192 Victoria, Melbourne +61 3 9581 8000 fax: +61 3 9581 8088 info@valiantbrands.com.au www.valiantbrands.com.au

Our bassinet mattress is thin and we’ve had one accident where my infant wet himself and it leaked out the side. The mattress was wet in the morning. Does this pose any risks if the pad gets wet?

Asked by: Brkim
Thank you for contacting the helpline. With regards to your query we hope that we can offer you some information as to why this issue has occurred and how to remedy it. You will be experiencing this problem due to a simple build-up of moisture at the base of the mattress. Unfortunately moisture on the underneath of a baby or adult mattress can happen, especially with foam mattresses. This is because the foam mattress can soak up the moisture emitted by whomever is sleeping on the mattress. This moisture is not able to effectively escape due to it being trapped between a plastic pad, wooden ply and a mattress. This coupled with humidity in general does in some cases lead to mould on the mattress whether using a Sensor Pad or not. This is a natural occurrence, a build-up of moisture is quite common and is easily remedied by turning the mattress regularly and aerating the whole bed area (removing all covers and standing the mattress in a dry area or by a radiator for a few hours periodically). Most mattress manufacturers do advise to do this on a regular basis. Sometimes a mattress protector can help to protect the mattress as you can remove and wash this. With regards to the Sensor Pad itself we want to confirm to you that there is no heat or electrical source within the Sensor Pad, it is a totally passive unit. The Angelcare Sensor Pad can be compared to a microphone: where a microphone converts tiny vibrations in the air (sound) into a signal, the Sensor Pad converts movement vibrations ply from the mattress into a tiny signal. The Sensor Pad has a large collecting surface (the top) which transfers movements and concentrates them in the centre of the pad. Baby’s movements do not have to be directly on top of the pad as the mattress itself will transfer the vibration forces (but not quite so effectively). These small vibration forces concentrated in the centre of the pad are detected by a Piezo Crystal. The crystal has the property of producing a small signal in proportion to the change in force applied to it. Angelcare do advise, as per the Instruction Manual, to ensure that you drill some holes in the plywood and to rotate the mattress regularly to allow air circulation and to prevent any build-up of such moisture. This will allow any moisture particles to evaporate from the mattress, all mattresses will contain some moisture but by allowing a little to escape on a regular basis will prevent a build-up which may lead to the occurrence of mould. To clean your mattress we would advise you to follow the manufacturer's instructions or to gently clean with warm soapy water and allow to fully air dry. We do hope that this information we have given helps to allay any concerns that you may have, if you have any further queries regarding this or the information that we have given please do let us know.
